Based on the unique and fascinating architecture of the Gulf, from the elegant merchant's house of Dubai (right) with its distinctive windtower and colonnaded courtyard, to the ubiquitous watchtowers of Oman, the amazing skyscrapers of Yemen, the ornate townhouses of Jeddah or Riyadh's imposing Masmak Fortress. In short, there is a wealth of interesting architectural forms in the Gulf.

A central part of any culture is its costume, and we felt that this provided scope for a series of figurines depicting the people of the Arabian Gulf in their traditional dress. The first in the series is titled: "Hajjar Mountain Traveller" and depicts a man wearing the garb of an inhabitant of the mountainous northwest corner of the peninsula - the Northern Emirates and Oman. As the inset shows, the traditional khanjar (curved dagger) is very finely detailed and there are even bullets visible in his cartridge belt. He carries a hunting rifle over one shoulder and carries a camel stick in his other hand.

We're great admirers of the Arabian Gulf's traditional dhows, so it was only a matter of time before Arabian Gulf Miniatures added model dhows to its range. As always, our modelmakers are instructed to ensure that every detail is finely depicted in order to produce faithful replicas of these classic dhow shapes. Eminently collectable, but also in demand as corporate gifts for the region's blue chip companies, these pewter models depict the dhows you'll have seen in the waters of the Arabian Gulf. We already have models of a boum, a sambuq, a jelbut and two forms of shu'ai (trading and fishing) and we're currently working on new designs.
