Dhows of the Arabian Gulf

More information here

Maritime Miniatures Collection in English pewter.

Modelled on dhows which we have seen in our travels around the Gulf, these vessels are based on some of the classic dhow shapes- boats which are still to be seen in Dubai's Creek, at Mina Manama in Bahrain or Muharraq, Muttrah or Salalah.
From the archetypal shu'ai dhow- workhorse of the inshore fishing and trading fleets - to the graceful boum dhow and the mighty sambuq, these dhows represent the essence of the world-renowned Arab maritime tradition.
We're sure you'll be impressed by the level of detail in these models. The cargo on the Trading Shu'ai, Boum and Sambuq is highly detailed, as are the wire fishtraps and fishing nets on the Fishing Shu'ai and Jelbut. There are sacks and bales to be seen in the open hold of the Sambuqand fish in the hold of the Fishing Shu'ai. Note also the mast and furled sail lying on the deck of the Jelbut (extreme right in the photo above) and the little dinghy on the deck of the Sambuq.
The dhows range in length from 11.5cm to 18cm. You'll find them surprisingly heavy (250 gms to 735 gms) and they are a real pleasure to handle. They are available unmounted (as shown above) but corporate customers may prefer them mounted on a plinth with provision for a logo or nameplate.

Gold- and silver-plated versions of the dhows are available.

All the designs are available in hand painted resin.
